Las Vegas Chinatown restaurants damaged after two-alarm fire

Investigators are currently looking into a Las Vegas Chinatown fire after the Halal Guys restaurant burned down early Friday morning, KTNV reported.

Clark County Deputy Fire Chief Kenny Holding told KTNV that approximately 80 firefighters responded to the scene after a security guard reported smoke coming from the building.

The black smoke was first reported around 5:50 a.m, according to KSNV. Holding told KSNV that nobody was in the building during the time of the fire.

When the fire had spread to the roof, causing parts of it to collapse, two alarms were called. Holding told KSNV that crews from the cities of Las Vegas and North Las Vegas arrived to assist.

The Halal Guys restaurant suffered significant smoke, water, and fire damage. The restaurant manager told KTVNV that the damage to this community staple will have a large impact.

Tiara Vicotor, an employee at Halal Guys, told KSNV that her manager alerted her about the fire hours before her shift.

“My store, my home is burning right now,” Victor said. “I don’t know … what more to say. There’s a lot of people out of a job right now.”

The neighboring Krung Siam Hai restaurant and a now-closed Starbucks were also damaged, according to KTNV.

“Our crews did a fantastic job keeping the fire from extending into that building,” Holding told KTNV, “but there is going to be smoke and water damage affecting the other two.”

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
