Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has apologized after he received a fine for criticizing NFL officials for the first time.
According to Trib Live, Nacua made the comments on a livestream and in a social media post after the Rams lost to the Seattle Seahawks 38-37. Nacua suggested, Larry Brown Sports reports, that some officials throw flags just to get on television.
The NFL issued Nacua a $25,000 fine.
Rams Wire reports that Nacua recently discussed the fine, calling it a “learning moment.”
“That one, it definitely hurt. I think it was something I was expecting,” he said. “It was a learning moment and an experience to learn from and to never let happen again. There are going to be moments of frustration later on in my career whether it’s ups and downs on my personal half or on the team’s half so being able to manage those emotions and send that energy in the right direction.”
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford said the team supports Nacua.
“He’s obviously never going to be perfect, nobody is,” Stafford said, per Trib Live. “We’ve all had things that we wish we had maybe handled a little bit differently, but he’s still our brother.
“We love him, and we’ll continue to support him and try to help him out as best we can.”
